Maintenance of systems in general and of illuminated signs is a legal obligation:

- (Italian law no. 792 dated October 18th, 1977, art. 2): "... electrical material falling under article 1 may be sold only if - built to the highest standards concerning safety - and in the event of installation and correct maintenance and use compliant with its purpose does not compromise the safety of persons, pets and property...."

- Ministerial decree dated March 17th, 1980: "recognition of the efficiency of a new safety system against indirect contact for illuminated signs through the electrical safety separation of the circuits", appendix A, art. 4.3."....the system is built and maintained in compliance with its technical characteristics...."

- Italian Presidential Decree no. 495 dated December 16th, 1992, art. 54 _ art.23: "the holder of the authorization is obliged to: check the efficient state of preservation ...., of the business signs ....and their supporting structures; to carry out everything necessary to ensure their correct maintenance ...."

- Legislative Decree no. 81 dated April 9th, 2008 art. 64, para. 1, letter c): The employer shall make sure: ...the workplaces, systems and devices are subjected to regular technical maintenance and any defects found that could compromise the health and safety of the workers shall be repaired as quickly as possible...."

- Ministerial Decree no. 37 dated January 22nd, 2008 art. 8 para 2 , "The owner of the system shall implement all necessary measures aiming at preserving the safety imposed by current applicable standards, bearing in mind the use and the maintenance instructions supplied by the company that installed the system and by the manufacturers of the equipment installed."
